Deck Roof & Patio Cover Cleaning

Translucent polycarbonate panels over a deck, heavily spotted with dark algae growth and a general film of dirt. Panels like these are easy to overlook because you look through them rather than at them — until you notice how little light is reaching the deck underneath. The growth was heaviest at the low end where water sat longest.
How we approached it
Polycarbonate scratches easily and hazes permanently if it is cleaned with anything abrasive, so this was soft-only: a cleaning solution to kill the algae, adequate dwell time, then a low-pressure rinse. Working overhead on a deck also means everything below has to be moved or covered first, which is most of the setup time on a job like this.
The result
Panels back to clear, reflecting sky and trees rather than blocking them, and noticeably more light on the deck below. The gutter line running alongside was cleared at the same time, since debris there is part of what keeps the low end of the panels damp.
